ALERT ........ “fake check” or “advance fee” scam.
If you received a check in the mail from a "Real Estate Company" along with a letter claiming to be from "Publishers Clearing House", it is a scam. The check is fake and cannot be legitimately cashed. The individuals sending these are scammers trying to steal money.
If you’ve received one of these letters and checks, do not deposit it. Instead, report it to the FTC or FCC to help stop this fraudulent activity.
